The tubes

The worst thing about the internet is that only a few people actually own/run the pipes. Oh sure you own your website or whatever online properties that you post to or haunt. But the means to get to the internet, cable/dsl/smart phone is only owned by a few. So the control of turning it off in the name of 'safety' is a real threat.

Anynomous

To admirers, the hacktivism trend reflects the increased importance of technology in more and more aspects of life. The net is now democratising both legitimate political expression and hacking in the same way it once democratised media, allowing anyone to blog or publish an electronic book.

These are just regular people, not heroes or monsters. They have ideals, and are raising awareness. They are real change, and are a movement that needs to occur in order to get people to pay attention.

Legalize weed

It's been a hot button issue, and because of that it's inevitably going to be legal. The big argument is that it's dangerous, so far that's been debunked, it's time to have real clinical trials.

Ending

Let's honour the war dead - by bringing their comrades home http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1299329/Lets-honour-war-dead--bringing-comrades-home.html?ito=feeds-newsxml#ixzz0vV32pgOD So far this is the only sentiment I can truly get behind and feel strongly about. Somehow going along because it's what we've always done is not a war policy.

Vaccinations

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-shermer/an-open-letter-to-bill-ma_b_323834.html A guy that makes such a great movie in 'Religulous' which slams those on the woo-woo side of religion to embrace the woo-woo side of health. Vaccinations work, plain and simple, sugar pills don't do anything.

Windows 7

I've been using it for a month, and so far its ok. I've been running it strictly on apple hardware and it's been rather stable. I have had an issue with waking from sleep and it not remembering the apps I had open. I've never really worked with sleep before, I ususally either power down or keep it up, so it might be regular behavior. I'll be using it regularly and once it has a few months under it's belt with wide usage we'll start seeing problems.

My Heroes

http://gizmodo.com/5323076/brooklyn-couple-snags-nikon-traffic-cameras-with-cherry-picker These people stole redlight cameras. How great is that? I don't think redlight cameras hold any sort of security value or have any constitutional validity also. You can't face your accuser in a court of law, and who watches the people that are watching you?

Nuclear power

Nuclear power plants do not create green house gases, only steam.  Then I get stupid hippies telling me that nuclear is terrible. coal kills more and pollutes more than anything. Wind/solar is only good for peak energy, we need something for baseline energy. People compare nuclear to nothing, and have anecdotal evidence with no science to back it up.  Then the biggest thing people try to manipulate you with (religion/gov/energy) is fear. Fear get's you nothing.

Legalize Marijuana

California is trying to get marijuana legalized. Good, no problem, what are they waiting for. Your state is 29 billion dollars in debt, you need to start thinking about different revenue streams. But mostly, California needs to get rid of their governor like they did a few years ago. Wilson did much less damage than Arnold is doing now.
