Order?
Facebook post from Raj Bains http://www.facebook.com/raj.bains?sk=info profile picture of the post Right now, it is raining methane on Titan. The planet Uranus, apparently trying to live up to its name, is orbiting the sun sideways, while Venus spins backwards. There are stars exploding, black holes gorging, galaxies, colliding. And here we sit, on a planet pock-marked by collisions, rocked by earthquakes, shaken by storms. A planet doomed to be fried in radiation as its magnetic fields collapse, until finally the sun grows into a read giant and leaves nothing of the Earth but dust. Here we sit, glasses on our noses, inhalers in out pockets, braces on our teeth, waiting to die as our heart muscle expires, our cell decide to grow forever, or a blood vessel just pops, and sometimes in unnatural ways, too. Here we sit, and some of us say, behold, look at the order of it all.

Reflection
It's a luxury to go off on your own and reflect on your life. The first day of spring is as good as any.

Lawrence Krauss
Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution and for life - weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way for them to get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today.

Got it wrong
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/03/01/gop-leader-john-boehner-vows-to-eliminate-net-neutrality/ He's top GOP brass, but he's an idiot. It's so obvious that he's working for the other side.

Comedy
I'm just old enough to remember the end of the late 80's early 90's comedy boom. Now there seems to be another one, and again technology is the driving force for it. Now I have A-list comedians doing at least an hour a week on demand for free. I don't know where podcasts will be in a year, but if nothing else this is the platform for the next step.

oscars
I saw 4 of the movies nominated for best picture, but not the winner. Out of the four I saw, The Social Network, True Grit, Inception, and Black Swan, I really liked Social Network. When the movie was out in the theaters I didn't want to see it, after it came out in dvd, I decided to give it a try and it really got me caught up in it. It's basically fight club with computers.

Wordpress
I have this site and a few others using wordpress and overall it's a strong piece of software. Plug-ins make a lot of things happen but they make everything go super slow. I'm still trying to find a balance in order to get functionality and speed at their highest.

Fake smile
"For some, it may be just another mundane aspect of work life — putting on a game face to hide your inner unhappiness. But new research suggests that it may have unexpected consequences: worsening your mood and causing you to withdraw from the tasks at hand. " http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/health/22really.html I have never felt good about a fake smile. I smile when I smile, I don't like to force it. But maybe if you're not smiling normally, that's your problem not forcing it.
