Nuclear
With the situation in Japan, nuclear power is in the microscope rightfully so. Why hasn't there been a serious look at how nuclear been handled? We need new plants and better backups. I have 2 levels of backups for my home computer, people lets get with the program.

Lawrence Krauss
Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements - the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution and for life - weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way for them to get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today.

Legalization
Since there are midterm elections coming up this year, that means the fake rage of tea baggers will come down upon politics. This means lots of conservatives will be out to go vote in California, which will be bad the for the legalization of pot on the ballot. Just like prop 8 got voted down, marijuana will succumb to people that usually never come out to vote. But to not go out on a bad note, here's a nice blog post by Joe Rogan http://blog.joerogan.net/archives/2264

Maybe it isn't that bad
Ex-military leaders: Young adults 'too fat to fight' http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/04/20/military.fat.fight/index.html?hpt=C1 Maybe we'll actually eat ourselves out of a war. High fructose corn syrup might be our ticket to peace.

Marijuana: The Patchouli Smelling Elephant in the room
Marijuana use by seniors goes up as boomers age http://www.salon.com/news/2010/02/22/us_seniors_marijuana/index.html As they have in the last few decades, baby boomers my change how business is done in this country. But the catch this time is it might actually do good. The aging population might actually work to get drug laws reformed or maybe repealed altogether. But what will have to happen is these people that do take part in normal usage must come forward.

Skepticism
Skepticism is a very healthy way of approaching things, but it gets taken over for stupid things and gets confused with cynicism. People are skeptical of vaccinations which are tested and proven world wide, but will take it on faith that a saint is on a piece of toast. Skeptic is a latin based word that basically means to look and consider something, you know, what you should do about almost everything.

Natural
http://paolov.wordpress.com/2009/10/01/what-is-natural/ The term natural drives me nuts, it's so broad that it get's co-opted by evertyhing to sell product. Maybe the term needs to be put to bed in exchange for another word, or at least make a more grandular definition.

Energy-saving bulbs 'get dimmer'
http://ow.ly/DIxu Strictly anecdotal, but the light I have has gotten slightly dimmer in the last 18 months.
