Steve Jobs, Apple founder, dies

(CNN) -- Steve Jobs, the visionary in the black turtleneck who co-founded Apple in a Silicon Valley garage, built it into the world's leading tech company and led a mobile-computing revolution with wildly popular devices such as the iPhone, died Wednesday. He was 56.

Very sad tech news, in a realm that rarely gets rocked this way. He brought more people to technology, and made it eaiser.

amazon cloud player

I've been using the amazon cloud player for a few months now, and its a great service. The price points are better than iTunes, and no tax. My only complaint is that I would like to have an iphone app for it. It can be used in safari, but the small screen isn't that friendly, the ipad web app works great because of the real estate.

Wordpress for iOS

I'm trying out updating my wordpress from my iPhone. I like the functionality the app brings, and the flexibility I have now. It closely mimics the web login and has all basic features too.

Apple

So I now have an iPhone, and I guess it's appropriate that it's the 35th anniversary of the company.

Zune

It was originally meant to compete with the ipod, rather than make something interesting. The new OS came out of it, that turned into the new windows phone, but the mp3 player suffered. If microsoft spent as much time on their OS as they do trying to beat the other guy, they'd really be on to something.

Android security

Google will build new safeguards into Android Market, its application store for the Android mobile OS, following an attack that infected thousands of phones and forced the company to wipe the malware remotely from phones, it said late Saturday. http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/221471/after_attacks_google_vows_to_fortify_android_market.html Google/open source fan boys got really quiet for some reason.

Comedy

I'm just old enough to remember the end of the late 80's early 90's comedy boom. Now there seems to be another one, and again technology is the driving force for it. Now I have A-list comedians doing at least an hour a week on demand for free. I don't know where podcasts will be in a year, but if nothing else this is the platform for the next step.
