Reflection

It's a luxury to go off on your own and reflect on your life. The first day of spring is as good as any.

Social Media

I'm glad to see that Twitter's moved on from false celebrity death rumors to false imaginary character birthdays. Progress! http://gizmodo.com/#!5772509/how-the-internet-wrongly-decided-it-was-bart-simpsons-birthday It's amazing to see how a lie can spread normally through regular human contact, now with social media it's spread world wide within an hour. I get more spam on social media than I do with my email now.

Wordpress

I have this site and a few others using wordpress and overall it's a strong piece of software. Plug-ins make a lot of things happen but they make everything go super slow. I'm still trying to find a balance in order to get functionality and speed at their highest.

Net Neutrality

http://www.theopeninter.net/ This isn't going away any time soon, this is how things will be done. Oh sure it's being held off from now, but this is just a warning shot. Like I said before, this is just a shake down.

Wiki Leaks

http://www.boingboing.net/2010/12/03/wikileaks-blocked-bu.html An interesting thing that has come out of this whole wikileaks issue is how the "cloud" still isn't the best option for stability. Because unlike a private network where everything can be hidden behind a firewall and everyone internally can still hit it. The cloud based models by default are open to the world and therefore open to attack. Another interesting point is how the WWW part of the internet is becoming a less used. If you can't hit a wikileaks site with you put up a mirror, and if those fail bit torrents are a strong backup. http://sowhyiswikileaksagoodthingagain.com/

China is Terrible

I woke up today to find that I was spammed by chinese spammers again. So if you're in china and reading this, In Tiananmen Square the government killed THOUSANDS of students for wanting freedom. If I were you in china I would VIOLENTLY OVERTHROW the government and install a peace and freedom loving group.

Silence

"For most Americans, silence is hard to find these days. Traffic, airplane noise and public transport fill most major cities." http://www.salon.com/books/feature/2010/04/04/pursuit_of_silence_interview/in... Humans are social creatures, but silence is something that you realize you need when you get a few minutes of it.

The Filter

We basically have access to all human knowledge through sources like google. Now the next hurdle is to narrow down everything to stuff you actually need. Regardless of how much information we want to take in, there has to be a point where you either become overloaded and leave totally or you decide what you want and only visit that. Filtering out that information, be in noise, data, or whatever, is the next step in the data evolution.
